I'm super duper yay!

I still have a runny nose and my head is congested it really sucks the big one. At least I took a shower and washed all the sickness off of me. Now I look some what presentable. The only reason why I have to look presentable is because I have to go to a cookie contest. Here's what I would like to call a sweet shot!
If we are going to talk about sweet shots we have to show this little lady she is the sweetest of the sweet. It makes me want to sing!
This is Bella she loves treats, tortillas, and cheese sticks. She wasn't very happy that I was taking her picture. Oh well so back to the cookies. Steven asked me if I would take charge of the cookie Christmas tree. I agreed because I thought it would be relatively easy. I was wrong!!!! First of all I thought I could just go buy some pre-made sugar cookie dough. Kayla you should have known that every single person in San Antonio wanted to make sugar cookies. I then decided that I would just break down and make them from scratch. So this is what I did, I made 12 or 13 stars out of the delicious dough and baked them this is what I got.

They have holes in them because they are going to be stacked up to look like a Christmas tree. They have to be iced still, but here they are stacked up.I think it will be a great tree cookie when it is done. We have to do some of the work at the actual contest so we don't look like cheaters. Hopefully there will be lots of cool cookies to look at and I'll get some nice pictures!

Better Mornings Ahead

It is Christmas Eve's Eve!!! I am super excited even though I still have a lingering headache from this cedar fever. It is one of the worst things I have experienced this year. I stayed home all day yesterday and lazed on the couch. I made myself a delicious breakfast
Breakfast
I know they don't look as pretty as some of my other breakfast, but it was smashing. I had one whole wheat English muffin, two fried eggs over medium and some turkey. I loved it so much. This is only the second time I had eaten fried eggs, I've always been a scrambled egg person, but now I can do a non-scrambled egg. Pretty awesome. Oh yes you can't discount the Dr.Pepper can in the background. Sometimes you just have to have a soda for breakfast. That is the twenty two year old in me talking. I hope today will be a good day without headaches and a sore body.

Watching Bad Girls Club

So when did it become cool to be an out of control twenty-something year old. Ok I understand that some people may have anger issues but why must television intensify and exploit these people's problems. I really don't like this show, even though I been watching it for the past couple hours, what a conundrum. Well I have felt like crap all day long. As soon as I got to the house I have felt weak and achey. I hate it so I decided that for dinner I would just use my subway gift card that my lovely coworker C got for me. I love them so much at Harris!
DinnerI had an italian BMT, for the longest time I was afraid of what the italian BMT was. I always thought it was like disgusting olive loaf. Now I know it is the best sandwich in the world. Now pictures pictures.

Here I am at the snake farm, as you can see it was quite hot there. The snake was suprisingly cool to the touch, it was like having a bony scarf on.
Here is my baby brother holding the same snake. I really think that he did this pose on porpose becasuse I don't think he is really that afraid of snakes. I could be wrong though.???
Pancakes pancakes pancakes! This was my first pancake, so goes to show you that the first one isn't always a waste!

Now an older pic of my lovely stack with bacon. It was really yummy and quite fun to look at.
Yeast, I love this picture because it was the yeast for the naan bread I was making. I made morracan chicken and I grilled the naan bread. I lurve naan bread.
Dutch baby............. Dutch Baby......................was amazing we made one on thanksgiving it was really fun. I love it

Now here is the disgusting part of this. My dad had made ribs one day. Just an FYI he loves to make ribs, so I guess there weren't any plates or napkins so my dad put his rib on a nasty sock. I really hope that it was clean but I am not so sure.

Lunch is served

Well I didn't get drowsy on the treadmill
I do feel really bad right now as I'm writing this. It is no fun at all. I feel like I am going to fall over and stay down.
I did feel fine at the gym, I didn't have any problems. Maybe it's just the sitting down and stopping for a second.
Lunch

I decided to have a panzanella salad. I chopped up onions, garlic, tomatoes, some cooked chicken left over from when we barbecued and jalapeno. Then I cubed a whole wheat English muffin.
I cooked all my chopped veggies and chicken, it smelt glorious in the kitchen!

Now to crisp the bread, I love crisp anything so I had to make sure my English muffin croutons were crisp enough.
Oh you can't forget about the fresh grated parm! Spectacular!

All and all the salad was really good, (sorry about the crumbs around the side of the bowl.) I should have chopped the chicken a little smaller and searched for fibrous pieces of onions. Yet it was delicious.

Nasty Morning

Woke up congested!
Well this was not a fun way to wake up my head hurt and my nose was all stopped up it wasn't cool in the least bit. So I got up and decided to go and ship my text books out. I decided this semester that I would sell my books back online. It is way more lucrative then selling them back to the bookstore. I would also like to point out that they are books that I never plan on using in my teaching career. Geology and Diversity are Gone!!! T
his is the best way to get your money from text books. Well after I went and shipped my books off and then I decided to make my breakfast. I had a whole wheat English muffin with turkey and 2% Cheddar Cheese.

Some Oatmeal with peaches and yummy peanut butter. It is a really great combo even if you can't imagine it.And my lovely blueberry Green tea. The tabs on the tea bags are always filled with indispensable knowledge. This one says " Learn to be noble, courteous and committed".

Here is everything all put together, I love the tea set in the background it is so pretty. Of course you want to know where it is from right? Well I got it for Christmas from my lovely Boyfriend Steven and his twin brother Chris. I got it at Tevana (www.teavana.com), They have some of the nicest tea sets I have ever seen. Tevana also has a huge selection of loose teas so I just love it all together.
Giraffes are here!!!!
I absolutely Freakin' love giraffes, especially this one at the San Antonio zoo. Her name is Daisy. I am privy to this information because Chris volunteers at the zoo and he gets to learn all of these fun facts about the animals there. Fun Fact #1: The only armadillo that carries leprecy resides here in the lovely state of Texas.

Well I am off to the gym, I took a pill for my allergies and hopefully I won't get drowsy while I am on the treadmill.

Cardio, Chicken Tortilla soup, and Secret Santa

Very Fun Work Out!
So A and me have completed our third day of going to the gym at 5:00 in the morning. We also had a visitor with us today, Ms.D(With a real southern accent). It was actually exciting to get there so early in the morning. Pros- No traffic and the street lights around my house turn immediately when I pull up, that can't be said for A. Cons-of course getting out of bed so early that you think it's still the middle of the night. Also Steven gets to sleep in, that makes me real jealous, but I can't complain, I'm on the road to rock hard abs!!! So we designated Wednesday as Cardio/Abs. This is where we do 40 minutes of cardio and then the remaining time on Abdominal work outs.

Secret Santa
I agreed to organize the secret Santa event at work, for our specific department, I thought it would be fun and fill a little of my free time. Well I didn't know that there were people competing for the job of Secret Santa coordinator. That was interesting, I thought I was the only one who volunteered but now I have to work some one else into my plans. As you may know(or you may not it's OK) I don't like to work in groups of people. I always feel like I am doing too much work while my teammates get to goof off and lolly-gag. The issue now is actually giving up some of my responsibility to the project( the hardest part). Well I'll let you know how it turns out in a later post.

CHICKEN TORTILLA SOUP!!!
I just had to involve my favorite soup in this post. I got one of those healthy choice soups that are low in sodium, calories, and all that jazz. It came in a cool microwaveable green cup, the problem being that there are two servings in that tiny cup of soup. No wonder it has such a negligible amount of calories and sodium, you get like two bites of soup. I shouldn't be complaining about serving sizes though because it is the correct portion of soup. OK yeah, yeah, yeah, whatever. I did enjoy the soup to the fullest degree, beside the strange fact that there were pasta noodles in it. I was a little frightened at first because I thought that they were soggy corn chip(ugh!), though they were noodles, they made an excellent addition to the soup.
OK over and out
PS. I need pictures I know I'll be gettin' them!

For real this time!

Ok so things haven't been so great with the bloggin', as you can see the last time I wrote was durring the summer. Well I will start with what I did today and how it's been workin' for me.

1. Got up at 4:47 to join A at the gym

2. Got to the gym before her and got on ET(eliptical trainer for all you

lay people)

3. worked on getting my Jennifer Aniston arms!!

4. made it home from the gym in the freezing rain!

Ok enough of the listing, I thought it would work out but it is a little tedious. So after that I got in shower for some much needed relief. I love taking hot showers on dreary days, it makes things a little bit better. Afterwards I had to rush to make my lunch, this wasn't a good idea sense I alway run late and have to run to the employee entrance at work because they lock the door at 7:30. Isn't that a deturant for being late! I was in such a rush that I forgot we were having breakfast at work so my lovely breakfast of sweet potatoes, mushrooms, onions, and tomatoes had to wait and replace a snack. It worked out well though because I dropped part of my lunch on the floor so it was a nice give and take. Except for the whole dropping food that I intended on eating. Then papers upon papers and more papers! I swear if my teachers got together they could probably match identical papers with different titles. I love it though, "BS-ing" through a paper makes me feel accomplished, especially when it comes back with a good grade.

Grocery Store Blunder

Well today was an interesting day, I awoke around 9:00 am (I work at a middle school, So I am on break Yeah me, sorry Steven) and spent my day being lazy and watching TV. I decided to visit my mother and alleviate some of my boredom. Then the time came around when the boyfriend was off work and I had yet to go to the grocery store. Well stupid me I asked him to go the store with me. First big mistake, I usually lolly-gag around the store, looking for what I find tasty. I try to stay on budget, but I like to include things that will make me happy. I happen to live with two of the pickiest twenty-four year old boys on earth, so I like to buy things like tea, mushrooms, and some fresh veggies. Back to the point, Steven and I are at the store and he makes it the most stressful and unenjoyable experience ever. First he made it clear that he didn't want to be there, second he didn't know what he wanted to eat for dinner tonight, and third he has a problem with chicken thighs, I just know it. I went walking around with the cart while he guided me down the aisles which pisses me off a bit. I know where stuff is, and even if he was joking I still don't like it. Then I tried to go off on my own and get some fruit and veggies, that was a big deal because the veggie thing is still an issue. Then we happened to see a couple of friends at the store, usually a nice little conversation and then on to the task at hand. Not us though, we talked about how I don't like chicken thighs, I don't that's the end of it, but Steven has to make sure and tell them that I am too fru-fru for the chicken that is on sale. I have heard him talk about how he hates dark meat chicken more then a hundred times. So who is he to make fun of me? Well after the numerous trips back through one aisle, I buy the food and Steven proceeds to split up the amount of money spent and tells me what he will pay half of and what he will not. What many may find funny I found incredibly annoying so I told him I don't want any money and that would be the end of it. Thank the Lord it was. The only thing I have to do is go back and buy the rest of the food I had planned on. Oh well we ended up having sloppy joes tonight, not my favorite, but Steven likes to cook it so it gave me a break so I am happy for that. I hope to have more pictures in tommorrows posts, more recipes, and more all around food stuffs.

Tonight is the night!

Hello all of my fellow internet users, I have come here today to tell you about all of the delicious food I am going to be making and showing everyone out there. I want to keep this simple and fun. I am going to be telling you about me (Kayla), my lovely boyfriend Steven(who also has a twin brother,Chris) and all of the fun and delicious(most of the time anyways) food that we will be eating. I really love cooking, I have been watching food network since I was twelve years old and have been addicted since. It's like being on crack, but instead of all the nasty transient folk, and horrible side effects, all I have to worry about is gaining some "extra poundage". I also like to cook on a more healthy mind set. I like to use whole grain pasta, lean proteins, and as many vegetable as Steven can stomach(trust me they consist of green beans and corn on the cob). Alas there are times when I have to make really fattening, deep fried, artery clogging deliciousness that we call southern cooking. I live in San Antonio, Texas, it is an unsaid rule that you must love Mexican food while you occupy these surroundings. If I could and my metabolism could handle it, I would eat Mexican food morning, noon, and night. My favorite meal of the day is and has always been breakfast because you can eat as many carbs as you want and not feel guilty about it. The perfect breakfast would consist of, are you ready? I hope you don't think any less of me once you read how much I would eat, ok here it goes.
1.Potato, egg, and cheese breakfast taco
2. Country style hash browns(with ketchup on top)
3. Banana pancakes with blueberry syrup
4.Sausage links, bacon, and a ham steak(pork products who can deny you)
5. any combination of eggs, cheese and onions
6. Biscuits and sausage gravy
7. cold pizza
That was a mouthful, but I probably would not eat them all together in one sitting, but if I was gonna try I would give it my best. I love cooking for people, it really makes me feel good when someone truly enjoys one of my dishes so if you are ready for this, I am. Thank you good morning, noon and night.
